About us
Understand the story
Mapou is a nod to Haitian’s majestic and diverse culture. Haitian culture is so rich with music, poetry, food, art yet so underrepresented and unlauded just like the mapou trees in Haiti. Although mapou is not listed as the national tree of Haiti, it is nonetheless very relevant in the Haitian culture. Have you ever heard the expression “ On pye mapou tonbe” which is translated as : A mapou tree has fallen or have you listened to the song: “Le yon mapou tonbe” by Carol Demesmin? Carefully pay attention to the words and you’ll instantly decipher how much importance and solemnity a mapou tree carries
